jcathleticsJamestown (CSi) The University of Jamestown Jimmie women’s basketball team is  a number one-seed in the NAIA national tournament starting Wednesday, March 12, 2014, with the Jimmies first game on Thursday at 3:30pm against number eight seed Roosevelt Illinois.

The Lakers are the fifth team out of the Chicagoland conference to receive a bid to the tournament, the most from any conference in the country.

The Roosevelt team finished the season 21-10 with two common opponents of the Jimmies. Both UJ and Roosevelt played Midland and Ashford. Jamestown defeating both, teams while the Lakers beat Ashford and lost to Midland.

Roosevelt’s point guard, Casey Davis averaged 21points per game and scored 51 against Olivet Nazarene.

Mayville St. also received a bid to the tournament, opening with number six seed Cornerstone Michigan, tipping off at 10:15am on Thursday morning. The Comets are the number three seed.
