waterpipelineTHUMBJamestown (CSi) The Stutsman Rural Water District Board of Directors has awarded bids for upcoming projects.

An $1.8 million contract for a 600,000 gallon water tower in southwest Jamestown.

The tower will be constructed adjacent to Titan Machinery and carry the logos of Titan Machinery and Stutsman Rural Water District.

Construction is anticipated to start this spring.

Stutsman Rural Water District territory includes the area outside Jamestown city limits between the Buffalo Mall and Jamestown Regional Medical Center. Kaiser said growth is anticipated in this area.

The board also awarded a bid for water tanks at Great River Energy and at the Stutsman Rural Water treatment plant to Dakota Pump and Control of Fargo for $1.3 million. Also awarded was a contract for a pipeline between the treatment plant and the Spiritwood area to Kamphuis Pipeline of Grand Rapids, Mich., for $2.6 million, part of a system expansion to provide industrial water to users in Spiritwood Township.

The bids were opened for an expansion to the rural water system’s treatment plant near Spiritwood. The upgrade will increase the plant’s capacity from 400 gallons per minute to 2,000 gallons per minute.

The apparent low bidder for that project was John T. Jones of Fargo at $5.5 million or approximately $300,000 greater than engineers’ estimates.

The bids for the treatment plant upgrade will be reviewed by engineers before the bid is awarded.
