Valley City (CSi) Anyone with information about  two Friday morning businesses in Valley City is asked to call police, at 845-3110.

Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson, reports, that between midnight and 7 a.m. Friday individual(s) entered Dietrich and Sons Bus Barn, at 815 14th Street, Southwest and Truck and Auto, 14th Street Southwest, taking items or attempting to burglarize the businesses.

Thompson says a floor safe at Truck and Auto was broken into with contents taken, that included an undisclosed amount of money.

Items were stacked near Dietrich’s exit door, including a large-screen television and hand tools, but were left behind.

Thompson says it’s possible the suspects were interrupted because of a shift change at a nearby business.

Employees arriving and leaving the nearby business may have seen the crime, but were unaware a crime was taking place.

Valley City police searched the surrounding area after being dispatched by Barnes County Communications, but were unable to locate any suspects.

Thompson said it appears both burglaries were allegedly committed by the same person or people.

The burglary and enter remain under investigation.

Obama says the U.S. has done everything possible to support Ukraine’s government and to deter Russia. But he says short of going to war, there are going to be constraints about what the U.S. can do.

Obama says the U.S. is imposing sufficient costs, and Russia should want to take the needed steps to get economic sanctions lifted.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) – After a failed attempt at a cease-fire, the fighting between Israel and Hamas is escalating again, with Israeli forces moving deeper into southern Gaza in search of a soldier who was apparently captured. The spokesman says the soldier’s disappearance, and the death of two other Israelis, is being used as a cover for what he calls a “massacre” of Palestinians.

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Republicans are pushing legislation that could clear the way for the eventual deportation of more than 500,000 immigrants who were brought to the United States illegally as kids. The measure would also address the surge of immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. GOP leaders are optimistic that they can get the support of conservatives for two bills that Republicans can highlight when they return home to voters during the five-week summer break. Votes were expected Friday.

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says House Republicans are trying to pass the most extreme and unworkable versions of an immigration bill even though they know the bill isn’t going anywhere.  Obama says while Congress is on vacation, he’ll have to make tough choices about meeting immigration challenges himself. He’s alluding to executive action he’s said he’s considering to deal with immigrants in the U.S. illegally.
