BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Job Service North Dakota data show about one of every seven private sector jobs in the state are related to oil and gas production.
Agency data also show that 28.5 percent of North Dakota wages come from the oil industry.
In the second half of 2013, Stutsman County had 136 jobs related to the oil field or about 1.5 percent of the workforce. The calculations are based on quarterly reports.
Stutsman County has 9,107 total workers in the private sector who are covered by unemployment insurance while Jamestown has 8,572.
The report says every one of North Dakota’s 53 counties has some oil- or gas-related jobs.
That amounts to about 1.4 percent of the private workforce in Jamestown.
The Legislature gave Job Service $120,000 to do the report.
