Sat flooding update

Jamestown (CSi)  The Jamestown City Engineer’s Office reports that Fourth Avenue East viaduct reopened  Monday morning about 11-O:Clock.

Sediment (mud) was deposited on the street at the underpass, from Saturday’s torrential  rain.

The slick surface had caused a male operator of a motorcycle to lose control of his bike, there.

He and his female passenger were taken to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment  of their injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

The torrential rain event occurred during a weather system that passed through the area between about 4-p.m. an 10-p.m.  Saturday. Three inches of rain fell between 4-p.m., and 5-p.m.

The National Weather Service Office in Bismarck  cancelled the flash flood warning for east central Stutsman County, on Saturday  at 10:30-p.m.

Among flooded and closed streets was the viaduct on Fourth Avenue East, and the Third Street area between Fifth Avenue and Seventh Avenue Southeast.

Jamestown Police reported that a family had to leave their home Saturday  after a basement wall collapsed on Third Street Southeast between Fifth and Seventh Avenues.

Saturday, police reported cars stalled on Jamestown streets and a tree down in the 900 block of 2nd Street Northeast, with 3-6-inches of water over streets.

Late Saturday afternoon to late evening Saurday the CSi weather computer, at Historic Franklin in downtown Jamestown,  recorded 5.39-inches of rain.

The Jamestown weather station recorded 1.27 .

Other Jamestown reports showed 2.3 to 2.5 inches fell. Carrington rported a half inch of reported precipitation.

 More than 15 homes in Dunn County were flooded. KXMB-TV reports that state game wardens early Saturday had to use a boat to rescue Inky and Clara Paulson when Knife River floodwaters poured into their home, forcing them onto the roof.
