Jamestown Utility Operations Director, Steve Suko says other causes may stem from the age of the pipes, or the wet soil conditions causing pipe corrosion.

He adds that six or seven repairs were being made Wednesday in about a 60-foot section on 15th Street Southwest.

He points out that when a new break occurred, the city would shut down water to a trickle in the area, causing some residents in the are to find other water sources, that affected about 25 homes on 15th Street Southwest and 30 homes on 16th Street Southwest.

City crews will return this morning to repair any remaining leaks.

Also the City Engineer’s Office informs motorists that beginning Thursday, August 21, 2014, traffic will be restricted to one lane on Hwy 281 (West Business Loop) from 1st Ave South to 4th Ave SW for pavement repairs.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

Please use alternative routes if possible.

Motorists’ should use EXTREME caution in and around this area and use alternate routes.
