Jamestown (CSi)  38 year old  John Martin Rech Jr., of Reno, Nevada, pleaded guilty August 21 in Southeast District Court in Jamestown to three charges related to a high-speed pursuit south of Jamestown on July 21, 2014.

He entered pleas before Judge John Greenwood.

Rech was charged with reckless endangerment, a Class C felony, and fleeing a police officer and driving under the influence of alcohol while over the age of 21 while accompanied by a minor, Class A misdemeanors.

Rech was accused of using an automobile in a reckless manner to create the risk of serious bodily injury or death, fleeing or attempting to flee law enforcement officers and driving while intoxicated with one of his children in the car on July 21.

Stutsman County State’s Attorney Fritz Fremgen said speeds in the chase reached 100 mph on U.S. Highway 281 south of Jamestown.  The chase began near Taco Bell, then,on Mill Hill in Jamestown traveling  south about 8 miles before Rech reversed course and returned to Jamestown, driving his vehicle directly at police,  during the pursuit, along with units from the  North Dakota Highway Patrol and Stutsman County sheriff’s vehicles.

He was apprehended just east of U.S. 281 on the south edge of Jamestown.

After recommendation on sentencing by the Stutsman County State’s Attorney and Rech’s court appointed attorney, Greenwood sentenced Rech to two years in the North Dakota Department of Corrections with credit for 31 days served on the reckless endangerment charge. Upon release, he is subject to 18 months supervised probation. He is required to pay $1,360 in court costs at a rate of no less than $100 per month.

He was also sentenced to 60 days in prison on each misdemeanor charge with all sentences to be served concurrently.

A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. In the case of reckless endangerment, it carries a mandatory minimum of two years in prison without the benefit of parole. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by one year in prison and a $3,000 fine.

Jamestown (CSi) A Nevada man appeared in Southeast District Court in Jamestown Tuesday facing charges related to a high-speed car chase through southern Jamestown Monday afternoon.

38 year old John Martin Rech Jr., of Reno, was charged with reckless endangerment, a Class C felony, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence/refusal of chemical test, both Class A misdemeanors.

Rech is being held in the Stutsman County Correctional Center, with bond set at $4,000 cash.

During the pursuit, police vehicles reached speeds of more than 100 mph.

The maximum penalty for a Class C felony is five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The maximum penalty for a Class A misdemeanor is 30 days in jail and a $1,500.

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Police Department pursued a vehicle through a part of Southwest Jamestown starting about 1:40-p.m.. Monday.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says the driver of the vehicle, 30 year old John Martin Rech of Reno, Nevada, exhibited “road rage” to an unmarked police vehicle, including an obscene gesture following a “burnout” on First Avenue South.

The report says Rech went around the police vehicle and refused to stop when indicated to do so, by the police vehicle with flashing lights, and a pursuit ensued from the area Taco bell.

The pursuit continued to Highway 281 South to the State Hospital road.

Edinger said during the chase, Rech attempted to crash into police vehicles and members of the public.

Rech drove back into city limits and was apprehended behind Dakota Engine Builders.

Chief Edinger stated that officers were unaware that a five month old and a 2 year old child were in the vehicle during the chase. It wasn’t immediately known if the children are his.

Both children were turned over to Stutsman County Social Services.   They were released back to their mother.

Chief Edinger says, Rech has outstanding warrants currently in Reno, Nevada.

No one was injured during the chase.

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police pursued a vehicle through Jamestown starting at about 1:40-p.m., Monday.

The pursuit stemmed from an individual operating a vehicle that would not stop for authorities  in the area Taco bell.

The pursuit continued Highway 281 south to State Hospital road, where the vehicle turned. The suspect left the vehicle and was arrested behind Infinity Lumber at the gravel pit area.

Two children were in the car during the chase.

They have been turned over to Stutsman County Social Services.

Mother of children was at the Jamestown Salvation Army trying to locate the children.

The mother than purportedly fled the Salvation Army.

The vehicle has Nevada, license plates, which authorities are investigating if they are valid.
