Out of the darkness2Jamestown (CSi) Saturday’s Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Jamestown raised $3,337.

The local walk was organized by a committee of volunteers chaired by Margo Haut, who adds, that there were 139 walkers.

Half of the proceeds will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for research and national programs and the other half will goes to local suicide prevention efforts.

Stutsman County Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Jamestown and others, help to dispel the stigma of suicide and its leading cause — depression.

The communities of Jamestown and Valley City this weekend will hold “Out of the Darkeness,” walks.

September is Suicide Awareness Month and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is holding “Out of the Darkness” community walks in several North Dakota communities, to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention.

In Valley City the walk is on Sunday September 28 at Chautauqua Park, starting at 1-p.m., until 3-p.m. Check-in Time 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm Registration Cutoff 09/26/2014 1:00 pm Donation Cutoff 01/01/2015 12:00 am
