Jamestown (CSi) The 2014 Holiday Dazzle Parade, in Jamestown was held Friday evening along 1st Avenue.  The Jamestown Community Christmas tree lighting outside the Jamestown Civic Center, was held after the parade, preceded with a short program.  The parade was recoreded by CSi TV for playback during the holidays.Before the parade started, floats were judged at the starting area at McElroy Park.  The floats then traveled north on 1st Avenue to the Civic Center area.

Trophies were awarded and $100 cash given out for the best floats in the categories of :

  • Best Dazzle:  Triumph, Inc.
  • Most Original Theme:  James River Correctional Center.
  • Most Outstanding Amateur Built:  The Sons of Norway
  • Most Outstanding Civic or Non-Profit:   The Girl Scouts.

 Following the tree lighting the After Parade Party was at the Gladstone Inn & Suites, with cookies provided by Hugo’s and entertainment by the Jamestown Choralaires.

CSi TV 10 – The Replay Channel  recorded the parade for later playback during the holidays.

Jamestown (CSi) Organizers report that so far the 2014 Holiday Dazzle On Main Parade has 46 registered floats.  Additional floats will be accepted, but will be put at the back of the parade as the floats entered earlier have been assigned numbers.

Jamestown (CSi) The 2014 Holiday Dazzle Parade, in Jamestown is set for 7-p.m. Friday Nov 28 on 1st Avenue.   CSi TV 10 – The Replay Channel will record the parade for later playback.

Jamestown Downtown Association, Ambassador Charlie Kourajian said, the parade starts from McElroy Park to 3rd Street North.

Float judging will be at the park before the parade.

There will be trophies and $100 cash for the best floats in the categories of :

Best Dazzle,

Most Original Theme,

Most Outstanding Amateur Built

Most Outstanding Civic or Non-Profit.

The Jamestown Community Christmas tree lighting will be after the parade, with the time dependent on the number of floats in the parade, with the tree lighting about 7:45-p.m., with a short program at the tree location, at the west side of the Civic Center, before the lighting.

Charlie pointed out that the tree this year will have about 1,500 new larger and brighter LED  lights, with new wiring.

City Forester, Doug Wiles says, the tree is a Colorado Blue Spruce stands just under 40 feet, and was  donated by Lloyd Landscoot, and was  located at 821 16th Street, Northeast, across from Leapoldt Park.

The tree was transported to the Civic Center by RTS Shearing.

Following the tree lighting the After Parade Party will be held at the Gladstone Inn & Suites, with cookies provided by Hugo’s and entertainment by the Jamestown Choralaires.

JDA President Nancy Miller said that Jamestown Tourism approved a grant request of $1,000 to advertise the evening as a regional event, to attract tourist to Jamestown.

First United Methodist Church of Jamestown is once again inviting all Dazzle participants and parade-lovers to come and enjoy free Popcorn and hot cocoa at the church’s basement which is located just east of the Alfred Dickey Public Library.

Doors are open at 6:00pm in which these refreshments will be served before, during and after the parade. Bottles of Water will also be handed out by church members to Parade watchers on 1st Ave.

Come and enjoy food and fellowship in a warm and friendly atmosphere with the First United Methodist Church’s Family.
