Elton Mittleider, 79, of Jamestown, ND, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Elton was born on March 29, 1935 near Tappen, ND the son of Fred and Bertha Mittleider. He attended country school and worked on the family farm. Elton enlisted with the US Army on December 4, 1957 and served in Germany. He was discharged on December 3, 1959 as a SP4. Elton married Janet Hust on June 19, 1960 in Tappen. They made their home in Jamestown where Elton worked as a bus driver and mechanic at the Jamestown Public School bus garage for many years. He enjoyed playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Elton is survived by two daughters, Tina (Wade) Williams, Jamestown and Geri (Moira Lennox) Mittleider, Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Bri (Daniel Peterson) Williams, Fargo and Cole Williams, Fargo; siblings, Viona Zimmerman, Jamestown, Leo Mittleider, Fargo, Clarence (Vangie) Mittleider, Jamestown, and Darlene (Ed) Simonson, Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delilah Roesler; and brother, Melvin Mittleider.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
