vcsuSports-smallValley City (CSi)  The Valley City State University football team moved up two spots to No. 17 in this week’s NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, despite not playing a game.

 VCSU had its one bye week of the season on Saturday, but was able to move up in the poll nonetheless.

 The Vikings received 133 poll points, which was 32 more than last week. 

 VCSU is 7-1 overall this season and 4-0 in the North Star Athletic Association. The Vikings have won six games in a row. Their only loss came against No. 1-ranked Morningside College, which is ranked No. 1 for the sixth straight week and is the only undefeated team remaining in NAIA football. ‘

 Carroll College (Mont.) moved up to No. 2 this week, followed by Grand View (Iowa) and Faulkner (Ala.). Southern Oregon and Georgetown (Ky.) are tied for the fifth spot in the poll. 

 Up next: Valley City State continues the season on Nov. 1 at Mayville State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
