DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – The floodwater diversion outlets on the west and east ends of Devils Lake are being shut down for the year.
State Engineer Todd Sando says officials plan to winterize the outlets this weekend with forecasts calling for highs in the 20s next week.
Sando says Devils Lake is one of the few lakes in the state that saw its level drop this year, despite a late start to the season.
Sando says the lake is now about two and a half feet lower than the record elevation that was recorded in the summer of 2011.
