Jamestown  (CSi) The  victorious UJ Jimmies volleyball team defeated Kansas Wesleyan in Jamestown Friday  in a NAIA opening round match, 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 26-24, 25-20).

 The Jimmies travel to Sioux City, Iowa December 2, 2014,  one of the final 24 teams in the opening round.

It’s pool play in Sioux City and if the Jimmies finish in the top-2 of their pool they will enter a single elimination tournament. The pool play match schedule will be released on Sunday night.

This was Jamestown’s third appearance in the NAIA opening round, but had not ever advanced passed the first match.

 

Meanwhile  the Blue Jays volleyball team still managed the second best finish in school history with 5th place in the consolation round of volleyball tournament action in Minot defeating Bismarck for thr consolation championship,  3-1 (27-25, 16-25, 25-21, 25-22).

Two years ago, Jamestown lost in the consolation championship to Shanley in a five-setter which had been the best finish until last year’s state title.
