BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – An Alberta clipper that passed through the region has left many highways in North Dakota and eastern South Dakota slick for Thanksgiving holiday travelers.

A travel alert remains in effect Wednesday morning for central North Dakota including the Jamestown and Valley City area. That means motorists can still travel, but they should beware of poor conditions. A winter weather advisory is in effect for part of northeastern South Dakota.

The system that passed through Tuesday dumped 2-5 inches of snow throughout the region. The National Weather Service says more snow is possible on Thanksgiving throughout North Dakota and in northern South Dakota, though heavy accumulations are not expected.
