Lloyd F. Smith, 88, of Jamestown, ND, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.

Lloyd F. Smith was born on May 3, 1926, in Carrington, ND, the son of Emil and Jenny (Knoll) Smith. He was raised on a farm nine miles southwest of Carrington and attended school at Longview #1. On January 5, 1945, he entered the US Navy and served until November 11, 1948. Lloyd worked for Sherman Plumbing & Heating until he attained his own Master License. He married Lucille Auer on June 30, 1950. On January 1, 1968, they moved to Jamestown where Lloyd operated his own plumbing & heating company. In 1980, he opened Neighborhood Grocery in Jamestown and later, bought the Pantry Café. Lloyd drove truck for Rosen’s for 12 years before retiring in 2008. He was an active member of the V.F.W and Navy SK2.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Monte (Jean) Smith, Ozark, MO, Sandy Thompson, Carrollton, TX, Dale (Julie) Smith, Grand Forks, ND, Sue (Rod) Reimers, Jamestown, Brian (Brenda) Smith, Jamestown, and Sharlene (Clay) Kamoni, Jamestown; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Roehl, Lincoln, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille, on May 31, 1985; one brother; and three sisters.
