A former Jamestown College president’s memorial service is planned for Sunday Feb 8, 2015,  at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.

JoeStuckeyRoy Stuckey, 87, died Nov. 16 in Tucson, Ariz. He served as president of Jamestown College, now the University of Jamestown, from 1969-1974. He was also an active member of the Jamestown Lions Club.

During Stuckey’s tenure as JC president, the Raugust Library was built on the campus in 1971.

Stuckey graduated from Wilmington High School in Ohio in 1945 and from Wilmington College. He earned a Master of Science in agricultural economics and his doctoral degree in bovine physiology at Ohio State University. Stuckey founded an agriculture program at Wilmington College in 1948 and went on to become a dairyman.

Stuckey is survived by his wife, Ruth; his sister, June Stuckey, a former vice president of academic affairs at Jamestown College; four children; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held for Stuckey under the care of the Campus Friends Meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Cultural Center at Wilmington College with a visitation to follow.
