NDHPKulm (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, five teens from Kulm were involved in an injury crash occurred roughly two miles east of Kulm at around 3:53 pm Thursday.

Sgt. Tom Herzig, says 15 year-old Heather Ukanou was traveling north on a gravel road at approximately 50 miles per hour to a residence northeast of Kulm. The vehicle began to lose control and entered a ditch. The driver’s side of the Impala was severely damaged upon impact with a large tree. Two of the occupants required extraction from the vehicle.

Ukanou, along with 19 year-old Steven Mueller, and 15 year-old Katelynn Holmgren were injured.

Two additional passengers, 13 year-old Zane Holmgren and 15 year-old Wyatt Nitschke were not wearing their seat belts and their injuries are unknown.

 The injured teens were taken to hospitals in Fargo, Jamestown, and Aberdeen, South Dakota, by Kulm, Edgeley ambulances. Aberdeen Life Flight.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
