fishfry1Jamestown  (CSi)  Dakota Anglers is holding a fishing tournament and fish fry Saturday June 20, 2015  at Spiritwood Lake. This is a fishing tournament open to Dakota Anglers members followed by a fish fry and potluck meal.

Two-person teams may enter, and at least one team member must be a Dakota Anglers member. Those who are not a Dakota Anglers member, $20 will be required to become a member prior to registering for the fishing tournament. Registration will be held from 7 to 8 a.m. at Four Winds Sharpening. Bring your boat to the registration point for an aquatic nuisance species inspection of the boat.

Fishing starts at 8 a.m. on any legal North Dakota water which must be declared during registration. Both team members must fish in the same boat at the declared North Dakota water. Weigh-in will be held at Spiritwood Lake campground at 3 p.m. If anyone is going to be late for weigh-in due to problems outside of his or her control, call Jeremy Wentz at (701) 269-7369 no later than 2:30 p.m. All North Dakota Game and Fish Department rules must be abided by during the fishing tournament.

Dakota Anglers encourage teams to donate fish caught to be cleaned and used for the fish fry. Attendees should bring a dish to pass; no one needs to fish to participate in the fish fry meal.

Scoring will be done with a point system using (3) northern minimum length 20 inches, (5) walleye 14 inches and any mix of (3) small or largemouth bass 12 inches on a multiplier. Multiplier means number of fish caught times total weight equals points. In addition, bonus points will be awarded for crappie that is a minimum of 10 inches, perch that are 8 inches and bluegill that are 6 inches on the basis of 1 point per pound with no multiplier.

Late weigh-in will suffer a 20 percent point penalty for every 10 minutes late up to 30 minutes, and a total disqualification will happen after 30 minutes. Weigh-in time means being present at the weigh-in point and does not mean time of leaving the water.

The fish fry tournament will cost $20 per team with 100 percent payback. The club will pay a 10 percent conservation fee. The number of places for the tournament is based on the number of participants. Plaques will be awarded to each winning team member and for largest walleye and largest northern.

No preregistration or late registration will be permitted. For more information, call Jeremy Wentz at (701) 269-7369.
