Jamestown (CSi)  Stemming from voter approval in 2014 elections, the City of Jamestown has revised the Fire Works Ordinance, shortening the hours that fireworks can be ignited.

Fireworks can be detonated within the City of Jamestown

  • Noon to 11pm  Wed July 1
  • Noon to 11pm Thrs July 2
  • Noon to 11pm Fri July 3
  • Noon Sat July to 1AM Sun July 5

The Ordinance also pertains to sale and detonation other times of the year. Time and place of sale; residency requirement; special permit:

No person shall offer fireworks for sale to individuals at retail within the city except during the periods of the first day of July through the fifth day of July and the twenty-sixth day of December through the first day of January.

 Fireworks may be used or detonated on the first day of July through the fifth day of July and on the twenty-sixth day of December through the first day of January. The use of or detonation of any fireworks from 11:00 P.M. to 12:00 P.M. (noon) is prohibited within the City of Jamestown. Exceptions: Fireworks may be detonated on July 4th from 12:00 P.M. (noon) to 1:00 A.M. July 5 and on December 31 from 12:00 P.M. (Noon) to 1:00 A.M. January 1.

(2) Sale of fireworks shall be allowed only in areas zoned commercial or industrial.

(3) No person shall offer any fireworks for sale unless such person is a resident of the city or living within the one-mile area under the city zoning control.

(4) The Jamestown City Council may, by resolution, allow the sale or use of fireworks at any other time or date during the calendar year.
