firecallVC Valley City  (CSi)   – A sport utility vehicle towing a trailer caught fire on Interstate 94 and exited into town, where firefighters extinguished the blaze Sunday afternoon.

Forum News Service reports that the driver smelled smoke before pulling off the highway, then the fire flared. Residents helped the driver detach the trailer and move it, sparing it from the fire.

Members of the Valley City Fire Department doused the fire.  Sgt. Dana Rustebakke of the Valley City Police Department says the vehicle was a total loss.
