haak-Dist12Jamestown  (CSi) District 12  Democratic State   Rep. Jessica Haak has been selected to be on a Human Trafficking Commission by Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem. The 19 member Human Trafficking Commission was established during the last legislative session and has representation from state and local leadership, tribal agencies, law enforcement, victim advocates and is led by Attorney General Stenehjem.

 

Haak  says “I am honored to have been asked by Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem to be a member of the Human Trafficking Commission.  I worked alongside allies such as FUSE North Dakota and CAWS North Dakota, and across the aisle in a bipartisan effort with Senator Dever to provide funds for victims of human trafficking during the legislative session earlier this year. I look forward to continuing our work to end this deplorable crime.”

 

The commission is tasked with developing a comprehensive plan to provide victims with services, promote public awareness about human trafficking and victim remedies, coordinate training on human trafficking investigation a prosecution with the all law state and local law enforcement agencies. The commission is expected to have their first meeting this month.

 

This past legislative session, Haak was a cosponsor on several key pieces of human trafficking legislation, including the legislation that provides $1.25 million for victim’s services.
