Clarence Rudy, 95, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Wednesday morning, August 19, 2015 at Eventide.

Clarence Rudy was born on November 26, 1919, in Crystal Springs, ND, the son of Ole and Marit (Halvorson) Rudy. He attended Medina High School and then worked for the Civil Conservation Corps for one year; Jackson Hole, WY for 3 months and Ontario, OR for 9 months. Clarence was drafted into the US Army on February 25, 1942 and served overseas in France, Italy, and Africa for 25 months with the Tank Destroyer Battalion 636, attached to the 36th Division, during WWII. He was honorably discharged on July 3, 1945 as Corporal. He married Elizabeth Culbert on September 28, 1947 and they made their home in Jamestown. Clarence worked for the Elks Lodge for 16 years, 4 years as Secretary/Manager. He was elected as the Stutsman County Treasurer in 1967 and served for 17 years. Elizabeth passed away on April 16, 2012.

Clarence is survived by one son, Michael Rudy (Mary Jo Stewart, Jamestown and one daughter, Rebecca Rudy (Ron Pfeiffer), Lake Stevens, WA; granddaughters, Sarah Andersen (Josh), Portland OR., Callie Lee, North Bend, WA, grandson, Chris Rudy (Mandy), Alexandria, MN; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Palmer Andersen, Nolan and Fisher Rudy, Parker Holley, and Tate Swanson; nieces, Genevieve (Norman) Bier, Shirley (Wally) Bjornson, and Joan (Lou) Wiggin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; and two granddaughters, Anne Rudy, and Tess Sollitto.

 

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
