ELLENDALE, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation agent is facing misdemeanor criminal charges for confiscating a pay loader from a Forbes man and giving it to a trucking company.
Arnie Rummel is charged in Southeast District Court with misapplication of entrusted property and refusing to perform his duty as a public servant. His first court appearance is scheduled Nov. 19.
Rummel is accused of taking the loader from Darrell Schrum after an investigation determined it was stolen. A judge found Rummel in contempt for failing to meet a deadline to return the loader and ordered Rummel and the state to pay Schrum nearly $54,000. The state Supreme Court overturned the order.
A spokeswoman for the state attorney general’s office says they have not seen court documents and had no comment.
