Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 24, 2012) — 22 year old Janelle Cave is appealing her convictions of manslaughter and criminal conspiracy.

 
Cave was found guilty by a jury in Southeast District Court in Jamestown on February 16, 2012 in connection with the death of Abdi Ali Ahmed on April 30, 2011. Cave was sentenced on April 23, 2012 to 11 years in prison for the criminal conspiracy charge and eight years on the manslaughter charge.

The sentences are to be served concurrently.
The notice of appeal was filed Tuesday with Southeast District Court.
Stutsman County State’s Attorney, Fritz Fremgen, says the appeal was expected.
The case will now be reviewed by the courts, and then a brief filed including the grounds or reason for appeal. The prosecuting attorney then files its reply to the appeal.
The case could then be reviewed by the North Dakota Supreme Court.

Thirty-four-year-old Leron Howard of Jamestown is charged with
murdering Ahmed. He is to stand trial in Jamestown, in mid-August.
