Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The 34th Annual Runnin’ O’ The Green was held in Jamestown on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday March 17, 2012.

CSi introduced a live GREEN CAM this year, providing live views of the Start Line and Frontier Fort from noon to 4pm. The Replay Channel Green Team covered the event. RAW – UNEDITED video is playing on CSi TV 10 and Downtown Views are airing live on CSi 58.

On Tuesday’s (Mar 13, 2012) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, organizer Larry Knoblich said pre-registration this week is available. At the time of pre-registration, and payment of the fee of $30 with a shirt, participants will sign a consent/disclaimer form, along with race day with the registration fee of $10 without a shirt. The morning of the event, registration takes place at 11- a.m., with the first flight of runners to leave the registration location, at the Frontier Fort in Jamestown.

Their will be five heats, leaving at 2-p.m. 2:10-p.m., 2:20-p.m, 2:30-p.m. and 2:40-p.m.

Only the first 15 males, and 10 female runners will be timed, by Jamestown Parks and Recreation Director, Doug Hogan.

Any beverage will count during the event, it is NOT necessary to drink alcoholic beverages.

The run starts at Frontier Fort, and down the hill and across the footbridge into McElroy Park. The rest of the course stops will be available from Runnin’ O’ The Green officials.

Participants must be at least 21 yeas of age. It is important to point out that alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed outside the establishments, and no alcohol is allowed in public. No open containers of alcohol. The alley between the All Vets Club and the Office Bar will be fenced for drinking and will accommodate as many participants as possible. Other establishment will have fenced areas around their property, and it will be legal to drink alcoholic beverages in that area.

Knoblich adds, Jamestown Police will have extra patrols on duty, NOT to harass participants, but to be hand for regular patrols.

The Jamestown City Council has approved a Resolution on the policy relative to street vendors during the St. Patrick’s Day Runnin O’ The Green in Jamestown.

It includes:

1) Closing of 2nd Street in the 100 Block.

2) Allowing vendors to apply for a permit to locate in this area only, based on permit applications being submitted and processed, and city staff assigning them to a specific space based on the order of submitted applications.

3) The vendors only be allowed to park adjacent to curbs in order to maintain a fire lane down the center of the street, and

4) The City Council requires a vendor permit fee of $50 to cover the cost of closing the street and providing waste containers for the refuse.

Any money given to them will be donated to charities, Relay For Life, and tips going to the Runnin’ O’ The Green charities. Only persons with the officials “CALL A DESIGNATED DRIVER,” FIVE COLOR IN THEIR VEHICLE WINDOWS ARE THE OFFICIAL DRIVERS.

The 2012 Runnin’ O’ The Green is in honor of Joanie Knoblich, and her participation in all previous runs and well as her dedication dedication to its founder, and husband, Larry Knoblich.

This year’s event will donate money to the Elks Camp Grassick, and individuals battling cancer, all in Joanie’s honor.
