Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Feb 20, 2012) — Texas Congressman, and Republican presidential hopeful, Ron Paul, included Jamestown, in his North Dakota stops.

On Monday afternoon, (Feb 20, 2012) at the Knight’s of Columbus Hall, Paul addressed a gathering of about 500 supporters. Local GOP District 12 delegates were elected at the district convention, also being held at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The delegates will represent the district at the GOP nominating convention, in March in Bismarck. Before taking the stage, Paul listened to campaign speeches by four Republican’s running for North Dakota’s U.S. House seat.

Those addressing the crowd included GOP candidates Paul Sorum, and Governor Jack Dalrymple, who are running for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.
Republican U.S. House candidates, included Shane Goettle, Betty Grande, Bryan Kalk, and Kim Koppelman. Also on hand to speak were U.S. Senate candidate Rick Berg, North Dakota Treasurer Kelly Schmidt, and Republican Public Service Commission candidates Randy Christmann and Blair Thorson.

Paul addressed a number of issues during his 10 minute talk. He emphasized personal freedom and limited government.

He pointed out problems facing America, including over-taxing, over-regulation, and a flawed U.S. monetary policy. He called for the United State to enact monetary reform.

While North Dakota’ economy is strong, he said much of the national is struggling economically, and added, the successes in North Dakota can be applied to the rest of the county. Paul’s wife and granddaughter accompanied him on his North Dakota stops. After his brief stop in Jamestown, Paul was headed to Bismarck to speak briefly at the Bismarck Convention.

North Dakota Governor, Jack Dalrymple, told the gathering that he was pleased that Congressman Paul took the time to visit North Dakota.

The governor said, he has invited all four “major” Republican candidates running for the presidential nomination to North Dakota.

The governor added that it is critical that leaders on a national level take a look at what we are doing right here in North Dakota, because it works. He said North Dakota can be a “blueprint,” for the rest of the nation to follow. He added North Dakota’s “methods for success are no secret, and we welcome everyone across the country to join us and move America forward.”
