BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Gov. Jack Dalrymple has ordered that North Dakota and U.S. flags be flown at half-staff on public buildings to honor the victims of the Pearl Harbor attack 74 years ago.
The directive is in accordance with a proclamation by President Barack Obama. Monday is designated as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
The surprise attack by Japan on Dec. 7, 1941, on the U.S. Navy base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii killed or wounded more than 3,500 Americans and pushed the U.S. into World War II.
