Valley City (CSi) The Feb 4 neighborhood meetings on permanent flood control in Valley City will be held at the Regional Tech Center, neighborhood E at 6pm followed by the neighborhood F at 8pm.  See schedule below.

KLJ Engineer Eric Gilbertson says the meetings will focus on neighborhoods along the Sheyenne River to see what citizens want for a permanent flood protection structure.

Gilbertson says Valley City residents they have three options: Do Nothing, have Clay Levees,  or Flood Walls.  Residence are also asked if they would open to a buyout if required by the project.

KLJ welcomes input from the neighborhoods regarding flood planning.  The map below designates the neighborhood for discussion A – F.

January 28, 2016:   6pm for residents in area, “C” from the powerhouse south to Bettin’s Nursery

January 28, 2016:   8pm  for residents “D” from Bettin’s Nursery south to the 8th Avenue Southwest bridge

February 4, 2016:  6pm for residents “E” living along 8th Avenue Southwest bridge to Interstate 94

February 4, 2016:  8pm  for residents “F” living south of Interstate 94.

Following the last meeting,  KLJ engineers will submit a recommendation to the city during a regular city commission meeting in March on the proposed plan for permanent flood protection for the city of Valley City.

KLJ Engineer Chad Petersen adds that construction on Phase II of the permanent flood protection project is set to begin in 2017
