Jamestown  (CSi) The Prairei Paws Rescue fundrasing event, Raise The Woof,  held on Jan. 30, 2016, raised $10,437. This includes $2,500 matched by Modern Woodmen’s home office through the organization’s Matching Funds program. The money will be used for shelter and feed for rescue animals.

The Matching Funds program offers Modern Woodmen members nationwide the chance to show their support for a community cause, organization or individual in need by holding fundraisers. Modern Woodmen matches money raised up to $2,500. These fundraising projects contribute more than $6.5 million to community needs nationwide each year.

Jamestown (CSi) The “Raise the Woof,” comedy show fundraiser, for Prairie Paws Rescue, on Saturday at the Gladstone Inn & Suites in Jamestown netted the largest fundraising effort to date.

Prairie Paws President, and Co-founder, Kaye John said Monday that not all the proceeds have been tabulated, however, the door ticket sales, plus the t-shirt sales and raffle proceeds brought in $5,000.

Yet to be added to the total are sponsorships, matching funds by Modern Woodman, of up to $2,500, and still to come in is ticket pre-sales.

She added, there was standing room only at the Gladstone, as nobody was turned away.

Jamestown (CSi) Prairie Paws Rescue presents the Raise The Woof Comedy Show fundraiser, on Saturday January 30, 2016 at the Gladstone Inn & Suites in Jamestown. The doors open at 7-p.m., the show starts at 8-p.m.

Tickets are $10 in advance, and $15 the day of the show, and can be purchased at R.M. Stoudt, Dr. Dawn’s Pet Stop, Country Acres Vet, Southwood Vet, Ingstad Family Media, or an Prairie Paws Rescue volunteer.

Sponsorships are available for Raise the Woof for $100 and includes two tickets to the show.

On Thursday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Prairie Paws Rescue President and Co-Founder Kaye John pointed out that at the event there will be raffles, including four “mystery suitcases,” with day trips worth between $200 and $400 each, and includes gasoline vouchers, donated locally. In addition there will be 41 raffle baskets.

Prairie Paws Rescue is a non-profit group with all volunteers and gives animals a foster home while seeking a permanent home.

Kaye said that there’s a need for more foster families, who take care of the animals until adopted. Costs associated with caring for the animals is paid by Prairie Paws.

In 2015  Prairie Paws was able to give 163 cats and dogs a permanent, new home, stemming from business partnerships and volunteers drivers.

The cost of adopting a dog is $150 and $50 plus tax for a cat.

The cost includes all shots, and all animals are micro-chipped, contiaining information in the event it gets lost, to find the owner.
