ndhpGRAND FORKS, N.D. – On Tuesday,at 5:15 p.m., a 28-year-old St. Michael man led law enforcement on a 40-mile pursuit with speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Troopers located Claude Black Jr. in a vehicle in Thompson and attempted to take him into custody. Black fled west on Highway 15. Troopers followed for 40 miles, using tire flatteners to stop the vehicle.

Black was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center. Black escaped from the Ramsey County Jail in Devils Lake on Monday.

This incident is under investigation and charges are pending.
