footballValley City  (CSi)  Valley City State University  football coach Dennis McCulloch has announced that Jorun Hame (Enderlin, N.D./Enderlin High School) and Caid Combs (Buffalo, N.D./Maple Valley High School) have signed letters of intent to continue their academic and football careers at VCSU.

Hamre and Combs both played their high school football for the Enderlin/Maple Valley Falcons. 

A 6-foot-4, 230-pound offensive lineman, Hamre was named All Region in both his junior and senior seasons for the Falcons. He also plans to play baseball at VCSU. Hamre is the son of Jeff and Neva Hamre and plans to study sports management at VCSU.  

At 5-foot-8 and 167 pounds, Combs excelled for the Falcons as a multi-position athlete. As a running back and wide receiver Combs gained 632 yards on 64 touches last season and scored 10 total touchdowns. He was named the team’s offensive MVP and also earned All Region honors. 

Combs also played linebacker for the Falcons, racking up 47 tackles, an interception and two fumble recoveries. He is the son of Todd and Jodi Combs and plans to study mathematics while at VCSU.

Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and plays in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference.

VCSU is coming off a 7-3 season in 2015 and finished second in the NSAA standings. The Vikings had won the previous four conference championships and advanced to the NAIA National Playoffs in 2014. The Viking football program has posted a 16-5 overall record the last two seasons and is 25-4 in conference play since 2011.
