Robert (Bob) Exner passed away Wednesday, January 27th, 2016, age 72, at Harbor Hospice.

Bob was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, on December 18, 1943. He was the 5th of 9 children born to James and Mary (Donegan) Exner.

Bob attended St. John’s Academy in Jamestown graduating in 1962. He attended Wahpeton School of Science 2 years in Wahpeton, ND and participated in football and wrestling, graduating with a degree in Diesel Mechanics.

In 1965, he entered the U.S. Army and served 3 years. Two of those years were served in the Cameron Bay area in Vietnam.

In 1968, he returned to ND and enrolled at North Dakota State University (NDSU), graduating in 1972 with a Business Management Degree. He moved to Houston, Texas and started his own business in commercial refrigeration.

He always enjoyed visiting family and friends in North Dakota and doing some hunting. He was an avid football and sports fan and loved watching the Bison (NDSU) and the Texans.

Bob was preceded in death by his father James (1975), his mother, Mary (2008) and a brother, Jerry (1993).

Bob will be greatly missed by the love of his life for 32 years, Bonnie; his son, Shawn Exner of Minnesota, his step-daughter, Renee (Lee) Long of Houston, his step-son, Peter (Holly) Fisher of E. Peoria, Illinois, his Grandchildren Jared (Arianna) Long of Houston, Anthony (Brittany) Fisher of E. Peoria, Illinois and Andrea Fisher of E. Peoria, IL. and his precious great-grandson, Cash Long of Houston. His siblings, Sharon Gerhart of Cedar Ridge, CA; Jim (Carolyn) Exner of Jamestown, ND; Marlene Ross of Littleton, CO; Mary Jean McCartney of Moorhead, MN; Joe (Claire) Exner of Morris, MN; Joan Exner of Jamestown, ND and Margie (Dennis) Wieszcholek of Fort Collins, CO, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins will all remember his smile and love for each of them.

A mass with be held on Thursday, February 11th, 2016, at 3:00 P.M., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft St., Houston, TX, for family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at the Elks Lodge 151, 11500 W. Airport Rd., Stafford, TX 77477, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 13th, 2016, with a reception to follow.
