LifeSmartsBismarck (CSi) Ten teams of students from seven North Dakota High Schools are competing Wednesday in the LifeSmarts state finals, at the Heritage Center on the state capital grounds in Bismarck.  Competion begins at 9-a.m. and continues for much of the day.

The teams compete in a series of elimination rounds to reach the final round, which is expected to begin about 2-p.m.. The public is invited to watch the competition.

The LifeSmarts competition tests students in grades 9-12 about personal finance, health and safety, the environment, technology, and consumer rights and responsibilities. The Attorney General’s Office hosts the annual event.

High schools competing in the state competition are:

Jamestown (2 teams) Central Cass, Northern Cass, Burke Central, Flasher (2 teams)Kindred (2 teams) and TGU Granville.

The Consumer Protection Division organizes the annual state competition, supported by many North Dakota businesses, including Super Valu Warehouse, ND Securities Department, Capital Electric Cooperative, Inc., ND Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives, and Capital Trophy.
