JohnsonJoshVCsuptValley City (CSi) On Tuesday, the Oakes Public School Superintendent Josh Johnson was unanimously chosen as the seventh superintendent of the Valley City Public School District.

Johnson has been the superintendent in Oakes for three years. Prior to that, he was a principal in the Devils Lake School district and he also served briefly as a principal for the Barnes County North School district.

Under the agreement, Johnson accepted a three year contract with an annual salary of $148,000 in the first year, followed by a salary of $154,000 in the second year and his salary moves up to $162,000 in the third year.

Johnson will succeed current Superintendent Dean Koppelman, on July 1st this year, when Koppleman retires.

The Oakes Public School board will hold a special meeting today, to determine a search process for a new superintendent.
