waterdropphotoTHUMBJamestown (CSi) Stutsman Rural Water District plans to construct a second water tower this summer.

The water tower will be located west of Rural Water’s treatment plant located about 2 miles south of Spiritwood.

The water District’s Manager, Geneva Kaiser, says the district needs to increase water capacity to meet the needs of a growing customer base.

The new water tower is one of several components of phase 5 of the district’s current expansion project. Phase 5 has an engineer’s estimate of $4.9 million and includes an expansion to a water storage tank near Fried and other capacity enhancements. Bids for the project will be let this spring with construction planned for this summer.

The water district completed its first water tower near Titan Machinery last summer.
