Jamestown-Park-recJamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Park Board has approved purchasing about $34,000 in new equipment for the Hillcrest Municipal Golf Course. Park Board Chairman Mike Landscoot, cast the lone dissenting vote.

The purchase includes a sweeper, aerator, a device used to remove plugs of sod to allow better turf growth and attachments for the aerator.

The equipment will be paid for with funds remaining from a $1.8 million bond issue taken out last year for improvements at the golf course, John L. Wilson Arena and Eagles Arena.

Aeration of the greens at the course last year was done with equipment borrowed from the Jamestown Country Club and a demonstration unit provided by a vendor as a trial.

In other business, the Parks and Recreation Commission met in closed executive session to discuss negotiation strategies for the purchase of land for the Two Rivers Activity Center from Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
