Jamestown (CSi) Friday’s Purses for a Purpose raised almost $18,000 with auctions for designer purses donated by sponsors and organizations in the community.

Purseswithpurpose4Funds in conjunction with the Wounded Warriors Project goes to Service Dogs for America, in Jud, which matches veterans or other disabled individuals suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or other mental issues with a service dog.

The cost to sponsor a service dog with a client is $20,000, which covers training that takes two years or longer to complete.

Jamestown (CSi) Purses for a Purpose will help raise vital funds for North Dakota Wounded Warriors, in supply a service dog.

The event takes place on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the All Vets Club in downtown, Jamestown.

Guests on the Wayne Byers Show, Friday on CSi Cable 2 included, organizers, Shelley Nannenga, and Karmel Wanzek.

Shelley said participants can bring gently used or new designer purses to the event. Bring two purses and get to pick out two purses. Donate designer purses in advance at R.M. Stoudt and Unison Bank in Jamestown.

She said that remaining tickets are going quickly, and the tickets at $25 each, including the live show, are available in advance at The All Vets Club, Hugo’s Wine & Spirits, and Lifestyle Appliance, R.M Stoudt, all in Jamestown. NO reservations are being taken.

Karmel added that along with designer purses there will be a Live Auction, and raffles and chocolate samples.

She pointed out that along with many others in community support including sponsors, students at the University of Jamestown are supporting the event.

We visited with Blind Joe on the phone on our show, as he indicated his support of wounded veterans, who will be aided in the proceeds raised, for getting a service dog, that can help decrease the symtoms of PTSD, and TBI’s in veterans.

He will have a CD being released by the end of April this year, saying he may sing a song from the CD at Purses for a Purpose.

Shelley pointed out that Service Dogs for America in Jud, continues to train dogs, adding that the cost of a service dog is about $20,000 each.
