NDHP1WILLISTON, N.D. – Troopers responded to numerous property and injury crashes Wednesday in Mountrail, Ward, McKenzie and Williams counties today. Local police departments and sheriff’s offices also responded to crashes. Roadways were icy and a travel alert was in effect earlier in the day.

Three separate incidents caused roadways to be blocked. Westbound Highway 2, west of Ray, was closed for 1.5 hours by a serious injury crash. Eastbound Highway 2 by Berthold was closed by a jackknifed semi for five hours; traffic was diverted onto county roads. Highway 22 by Mandaree was blocked by several semis unable to drive up icy hills. Traffic was backed up for several miles and the traffic jam took a few hours to return to normal.
