Cleanupweek2016City officials report that 53.19 tons of material were collected Monday in Southeast Jamestown during the first day of the annual citywide cleanup.

Last year, 52.2 tons were collected on the first day of the annual cleanup.

City crews will pick up materials left in front of residences Tues day in the southwest section of Jamestown,  Wed in the NW, and Thurs in the NE.

or at City Hall in Jamestown, outlining the days and areas of the pick up, along with items that will be allowed to placed out, and items not allowed, and where those items may be taken.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO PLACE ITEMS ON THE STREET, NEXT TO THE CURB or as close as possible by 7:00 am, the morning of, but no sooner than two days ahead of the following schedule:

  • MON  -May 2 : Southeast section of the city
  • TUES -May 3 : Southwest section of the city
  • WEDS-May 4:  Northwest section of the city
  • THUR-May 5 : Northeast section of the city

Also, please remember that it is illegal to dump trash, grass clippings and other debris into the river.  With the lack of snow this winter and the recent continued dry weather conditions, there is no flow being released from the reservoirs.  Any debris dumped in the river will likely remain there for some time and will eventually begin to decay causing odor problems.
