Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police Tuesday afternoon began a search for a child reported missing. The call came at 12:44pm. Police searched for the child until 3:21-pm, when the child was located.
The Eight year old child was last seen in Southeast Jamestown Tuesday morning at 10-am.
Jamestown Police Day Shift Supervisor Sgt. Tyler Loven, says the boy was staying with relatives and apparently had wandered off. The Child was located at a residence in southeast Jamestown, known to the child, safe and unharmed.
Loven says the boy was at the location during the time of the search.
Jamestown Police was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was called back Tuesday just after 5-p.m., to a rekindled trash fire, about seven miles south of Jamestown in the area of Highway 281.
The initial fire at that location was on Monday, which was thought to have been extinguished.
Rural firefighter had three grass trucks and two tankers with 10 firefighters at the scene.
Rural Fire Chief Chief Ben Maulding says, less than an acre of grass burned with no structures damaged.
Bismarck (CSi) The NDDOT reports that the west bound off ramp on I-94 at the Windsor Interchange, (Exit 242) is temporarily closed for repairs. The ramp will remain closed until repairs are completed. During the closure, traffic will need to find an alternate route.

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Tourism Director Searle Swedlund says a number of activities in Jamestown and the area in the coming days will be another good draw for tourists.
On Tuesday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, he said the Kite festival in conjunction with the James River Figure Skating Club’s Car Raffle Fundraising in Jamestown at Leapaldt Park is June 9, 10, and 11, and Wimbledon is celebrating its 125th Anniversary June 23-25, 2017.
He pointed out the the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse is open for the summer Wednesday, through Sunday from 10-a.m., to 5-p.m.
He pointed out that Jamestown’s White Cloud Days is set for July with the White Cloud Days Parade in Downtown Jamestown July 8th.
The annual Rods and Hogs event is Saturday June 10, 2017 in Downtown Jamestown.
The Jamestown Fireworks display will be on the evening of Tuesday July 4, 2017 at the Stutsman County Fairgrounds.
Swedlund was also on the search committee seeking a new Jamestown Arts Center, Director.
He said that Larry Kopp from Pennsylvania has been selected as 20 individuals applied for the position.
Swedlund said this month’s Grant/Executive Board meeting is June 15th, at the CSi Technology Center, at Historic Franklin School.
On the agenda is grant requests the regional trail signs project, a staff request from the Jamestown Arts Center, and a request from the Jamestown Downtown Association for their banner project.
The meeting starts at 11:30-a.m.
He added that any organization that wants more information on requesting Tourism grants, may contact Jamestown Tourism for more information.

CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
David Schelkoph gave an update on the flood buyout program, with Phase 3 and moving forward to Phase 4.
He said the franchise renewal talks with CSi Cable and Century Link are continuing.
He asked residents to be patient with the congestion in town concerning street construction this summer.
He praised the election workers for their participation in the May 23, 2017 Special City Commissioner Election.
He said on Monday a record amount of water was used in Valley City, at 1.5 million gallons.
He asked residents to water lawns early morning, or in the evening to avoid direct sunlight.

City Auditor Avis Richter also thanked the election workers and city workers who assisted in the election, that went smoothly.
City Building Inspector Dave Andersen reported on building permits issued, saying the pace is ahead of what he expected.
He said the sidewalk shaving has started in Valley City.
City Fire Chief Gary Retterath reported that all the outdoor sirens are in working order.
He attended the state fire fighters convention in Dickinson last week, adding that the state convention will be in Valley City in 2018.
Mayor Carlsrud thanked the owners of the new Blush Boutique in Valley City for their investment in Valley City.

Jamestown (CSi) The 21st Annual, 2017 Stutsman County Relay for Life is Friday June 9, 2017 from noon to midnight, at the University of Jamestown’s, Taylor Stadium.
Chelsey Francis says as of Tuesday afternoon, 16 teams have registered, and so far, about $50,000 has been raised toward this year’s goal of $85,000 this year.
She adds that on Relay night some teams who will be doing fundraisers:

LaMoure (CSi) The LaMoure County Commission has made a fire declaration and burn restriction
LaMoure County Department of Emergency Services and Emergency Services Communication Systems reports that most of LaMoure County is in a D1 moderate drought designation from the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
LaMoure County Emergency Manager, Kimberly Robbins, says open burning is prohibited the LaMoure County fire danger rating is high, very high or extreme and/or the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota Army National Guard unit based in Bismarck has been notified that it might be called to serve overseas.
The Guard says Detachment 7, Company C, 2nd Battalion, 245th Aviation Regiment of Operational Airlift Support has been put on alert for possible deployment to the Horn of Africa area during the summer of 2018.
The unit has previously served in Afghanistan and in Djibouti, Africa.
Four soldiers of the five-soldier unit have been alerted. If mobilized, they will operate aircraft transporting cargo and personnel.
Bismarck (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, on Tuesday at 2:56 p.m., a truck towing an oversized modular home was westbound on I-94 into the Bismarck area. The driver, Johnathan Squires of Watford City, entered road construction at milepost 160 east of State Street, where a narrowed, single lane would not allow the load to pass.
The truck was temporarily stopped at the entrance to the narrowed lane, backing up westbound traffic. Troopers and Northern Improvement Construction moved the truck onto the roadway. The trailer was backed partially into the median away from the narrowed lane. Westbound traffic was temporarily diverted around the truck and modular home.
Troopers escorted the truck and modular home in the westbound lane past the narrowed lane to a local truck stop. The driver was cited for violating his permit.
Bismarck (CSi) Through Thursday this week, North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers and civilian inspectors are participating in a nationwide commercial motor vehicle enforcement and educational program. Roadcheck is a 72-hour period of large truck and bus safety inspections. This year’s emphasis is cargo securement.
Inspectors will primarily conduct the North American Standard Level I Inspection, a 37-step procedure including an examination of both driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness. Drivers must provide items such as a driver’s license, hours-of-service documentation, motor carrier registration, and shipping documentation. Inspectors will also monitor seat belt usage and the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Gov. Doug Burgum and other state and local leaders will meet with President Donald Trump and senior administration officials this week at the White House to talk about improving the nation’s infrastructure.
Burgum’s office says the governor was invited to Thursday’s meeting after spending some time with U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao at the Drone Focus Conference in Fargo last week.
The Trump administration is eyeing plans to encourage the sale of public assets, such as airports and bridges, to help pay for a $1 trillion overhaul of the nation’s aging infrastructure.
The Washington Post reported recently that Trump advisers are considering enticing state and local governments to sell some of their assets by paying them a bonus for doing so with the proceeds going to infrastructure projects.
BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — A hiker who was reported missing near West Yellowstone in southern Montana has been found dead.
Searchers found the body of 42-year-old Mike Petersen on Tuesday. They had been looking for the Bismarck, North Dakota man since Sunday night after he did not return to a designated rendezvous point.
Petersen had been in the area several times over the past four months, knew the area and had backcountry experience. He also had enough equipment to stay in the forest and signal for help.
Investigators have not said how Petersen died.
BAUDETTE, Minn. (AP) — Two people suffered life-threatening injuries when their motorcycle collided with a deer in northern Minnesota.
The State Patrol says the crash happened in Beltrami County Monday afternoon. The two were westbound on Highway 1 when they struck the deer about 3 p.m. south of Lower Red Lake.
74-year-old Billy Aery and his passenger, 72-year-old Rebecca Aery, were taken to Essentia Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota with serious injuries.
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A new self-guided tour across 10 sites in the western Dakotas tells the story of the last stand of the American bison, the national mammal.
The trail, which is accompanied by the tour book “Buffalo Trails in the Dakota Buttes,” officially opens June 11.
Starting in Hettinger, North Dakota, the route runs into South Dakota and back north again with an opportunity to see the Standing Rock Sioux’s tribal bison herds.
The 10 stops are marked with signs for visitors, and author Francie Berg recommends taking two days to traverse the entire route.
North Dakota Tourism Director Sara Otte Coleman says that the new experience tells the story of the history and preservation of the buffalo in the Dakotas.

ESPY AWARDS-ARTHUR ASHE COURAGE
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver will be posthumously honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards in July.
Timothy Shriver, one of Shriver’s sons and chairman of the Special Olympics, will accept the award on July 12.
Eunice Shriver founded Special Olympics in 1968 to help individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports as a result of her sister Rosemary, who had such disabilities.
Shriver died in August 2009. The Special Olympics will mark its 50th anniversary next year.
The Ashe award is given to individuals whose contributions transcend sports.

PARIS (AP) — Teenager Jelena Ostapenko advanced to the semifinals of the French Open by rallying past former No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Ostapenko is the first woman from Latvia to make it to a Grand Slam semifinal in the professional era. At age 19, the 47th-ranked Ostapenko is also the youngest player in the tournament.

The video, circulated online, shows a gunman and a bloody, lifeless body of a man lying on the ground next to a desk. It emerged before Iranian media reported that the siege had ended, with four attackers killed.

Valeria Collina, a Muslim convert, spoke to reporters on Wednesday, a day after she learned that her son Youssef Zaghba was the third attacker killed after a rampage on London Bridge and nearby area.
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Hamas official says Saudi Arabia’s call to Qatar to cut ties with the Palestinian group is “regrettable” and contradicts traditional Arab support for the Palestinian cause. Hamas official Mushir al-Masri also accused Saudi Arabia on Wednesday of siding with “American and Zionist calls to put Hamas on the terrorism list.” Al-Masri’s strongly worded criticism of regional powerhouse Saudi Arabia was unusual for Hamas.
