Autumn has arrived, and with it comes the end of daylight saving time.
This year, the time change will occur on Sunday, November 2. At 2 am, clocks will shift back one hour as we return to standard time.
Daylight saving time was first introduced in the United States over a century ago, following the passage of the Calder Act, or Standard Time Act of 1918. The policy was later updated by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which set the current dates for the seasonal clock changes.
In the US, daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March, when clocks move ahead one hour, and ends on the first Sunday in November, when clocks are turned back an hour bringing earlier sunsets and a little extra sleep for everyone.
