Jamestown (CSi ) Interstate Engineering reports that 4th Avenue NW is now open between 7th Street and 9th Street.
It had been closed since Tuesday for pavement patching.
(CSi) Weather permitting, the Jamestown and Valley City Communities are set to enjoy activities this weekend, starting Friday.
On Friday the Barnes County Relay For Life takes place, this year, at the Barnes County Courthouse lawn.

Valley City (CSi) The 2014 Barnes County Relay For Life the 15th year will beFriday June 13th , 2014, in conjunction with Rally in The Valley, on the lawn of the Barnes County Courthouse.
Event Coordinator, Lisa McCulloch says the event will be held rain or shine.

There will be kids games, a talent show, lots of goodies to eat, crafts for sale, a quilt raffle, a silent auction with different things & themed baskets.
Closing consists of the releasing of the memorial sky lanterns.
Rally in the Valley, Duckin’ Down the Sheyenne proceeds will all go to Barnes County, Relay for Life.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man is accused of raping and killing a woman on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
Lance Summers is charged in federal court with murder and sexual abuse in the March 18 death of Natalie White Lightening. Summers has pleaded not guilty.
The indictment says White Lightening was physically incapable of communicating her unwillingness to have sex with Summers.
Trial has been scheduled for Aug. 19 in Bismarck. No further details are available.
The head of the federal public defender’s office says officials are just beginning their investigation. He says Summers is presumed innocent.
The Standing Rock Reservation straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A preliminary hearing for a Burleigh County man accused of killing his mother last spring has been pushed back.
38-year-old Christopher Vick appeared in court Thursday, but the hearing was pushed back as Vick voiced concerns about the judicial process. He took issue with the presence of cameras in the courtroom, his lack of ample time to examine evidence and his attorney.
Vick is charged with felony murder for the death of 62-year-old Alice Vick, who died May 30 of a blow to the head.
Vick is serving a prison sentence related to the same incident. He earlier pleaded guilty to felony charges of attempted murder and felonious restraint for stabbing his brother’s fiancee and holding her against her will.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A faith-based group is spearheading efforts this summer to restore about 40 Minot homes damaged by the 2011 Souris River flood.
The project involves funding, equipment or logistical help from the United Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Episcopalian and Catholic churches. The Hope Village volunteer center that shut down last fall is donating money it had left over.
A major contributor is NOMADS, which stands for Nomads on a Mission Active in Divine Service. The organization of retirees under the umbrella of the United Methodist Committee on Relief will bring workers to Minot throughout the summer. Project coordinator Bob Lower says five mobile homes will accommodate teams of up to 10 people.
Minot Air Force Base also has been signing up weekend volunteer teams.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Board of Animal Health has relaxed some hog movement restrictions put in place earlier this year to guard against the spread of a deadly pig virus.
Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus, or PED, has killed millions of pigs in the U.S in the past year. It was confirmed in a swine herd in eastern North Dakota in late February.
The state began requiring any pigs shipped into the state or within the state to have a health certificate stating there have been no clinical signs of PED or a similar virus known as TGE for the last two months on the premises where the pigs originated.
State Veterinarian Susan Keller says the requirement for in-state movement of hogs has been discontinued. The requirement continues for hog imports.

Jamestown (CSi UJ) University of Jamestown President Robert S. Badal and Athletic Director Lawrie Paulson announce Alan Magnani has been named head men’s basketball coach.
Magnani comes to Jamestown from Mount Pleasant, Iowa, where from 1996 to 2011 he was head men’s basketball coach at Iowa Wesleyan College.
Magnani says, “I am really excited about the opportunity to build upon and continue the success of the men’s basketball program at the University of Jamestown. I was very impressed with everyone I met during the interview process.”
Magnani is the winningest coach in Iowa Wesleyan school history, and his teams reached the NAIA National Tournament in 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2011, winning Midwest Collegiate Conference championships those same years. He was a three-time conference Coach of the Year and in 2011 was a finalist for the Don Meyer Collegeinsider.com National Coach of the Year award. He has coached 13 All-Americans.
Paulson says, “It’s hard to match his resumé. Obviously, he has enjoyed a great deal of success coaching in Iowa, and I think his experience and maturity will be an asset, not only to the basketball program, but to the Athletic Department and campus community as well.”
Dr. Badal adds, “We are so pleased to welcome an experienced and highly successful coach with an NAIA background.”
Magnani earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Northern Iowa and his master’s degree in sports administration from Wayne State College. He has held several leadership positions, including serving as President of the NABC-NAIA Board of Directors and three-time Chairman of the NAIA D-II Men’s Basketball National Tournament.
Magnani and his wife, Diane, have three children, Trey, 18, Jordan, 14, and Lexie, 12.

WASHINGTON (AP) – A U.S. defense official says Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is scheduled to arrive Friday at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. Bergdahl was released from Taliban captivity on May 31 and has been recuperating at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. He was deployed in eastern Afghanistan when he disappeared in June 2009.
BAGHDAD (AP) – Around the world, leaders are expressing alarm over the situation in Iraq — where fighters from the militant group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant have captured two key cities and are vowing to take their fight to Baghdad. In Washington, senior U.S. officials say the Obama administration is considering whether to conduct drone missions in Iraq. President Barack Obama is saying only that Iraq will need more help from the United States.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Officials say three planeloads of Americans are being evacuated from a major Iraqi air base in Sunni territory north of Baghdad to escape potential threats from a fast-moving insurgency. Twelve U.S. personnel who were stationed there were the first to be evacuated. Several hundred American contractors are still waiting to leave. The Americans have been training Iraqi forces to use fighter jets and surveillance drones.
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – Police and soldiers in Afghanistan have set up checkpoints at nearly every intersection in the capital, searching vehicles and frisking drivers as part of a massive security operation. Voters on Saturday will be choosing a new president, but the Taliban are warning voters to stay away from the polls. A recent assassination attempt against one of the two presidential hopefuls has prompted fears of more violence.
LAS VEGAS (AP) – A judge has ordered a competency evaluation for a Phoenix woman accused of throwing a shoe at Hillary Clinton while the former U.S. secretary of state addressed a convention audience in Las Vegas. A lawyer for Alison Ernst told the judge that Ernst wasn’t able to understand the charges and assist in her defense. She had been set for trial this month after pleading not guilty to misdemeanor trespassing and violence against a person.
