Jamestown  (CSi)  The  Jamestown City Fire Department reports that the cause of a single dwelling house fire on November 20, 2015 has been officially listed as an electrical malfunction in the attic area.

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a house fire early Friday morning, about 5:30 am at  452 2^nd St SW.  This was first fire of the day.  Later Friday the JFD was called out three times to  a mobile home fire   in NW Jamestown.

Jamestown City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says, the fire started in the attic of the two story single family residence, adding that upon arrival there was smoke coming out of the second floor of the two-story home.

There is extensive smoke and water damage to the home, and the fire caused the roof to sag.

The residents the two homeowners and a child were in the home when the fire started and escaped safely, along with the family’s pet cat, The Red Cross was on the scene giving assistance.

The cause is still under investigation.

On the scene for about three hours were seven city fire department units, and 33 fire fighters.

This morning, traffic on 2^nd Street Southwest from 4^th Avenue Southwest westbound, is limited.

Reuther added that the city’s ladder truck is out of service with mechanical problems.  It’s not known how long the unit will be out of service.  In the meantime he’ll investigate if another replacement ladder truck is available to Jamestown.
